 According to the result of our survey about music genders, vallenato music was the most popular music between AIDI’s student.
  


Vallenato is a musical gender from Caribbean coast and savanna region in Colombia for its popularity was extended in others countries.





For playing vallenato people use the next instruments:

 


-          The caja vallenata: A small drum help between the knees and played with bare hands.
-         


-          The guacharaca: A wooden, ribbed stick similar to a sugar cane, accompanied by a fork that when it is rubbed with the sugar cane emits a scraping sound.



-          The accordion: A wind instrument, consisting of a bellows, a harmonic pitch and two wooden boxes.


Vallenato music is also playing with guitar and Cumbia instruments.

Vallenato music has 5 rhythm:
1.       Paseo.
2.       Merengue.
3.       Puya.
4.       Son.
5.       Tambore.

Actually, vallenato music is very popular between young people because nowadays vallenato music is used to flirt or woo to women. Vallenato music is know because it’s singing with love.

In middle 70’s young people in the UK started playing a pretty outrageous music with rebels lyrics, in their garages, with cheap instruments paid by their unemployed monetary benefit, there in the United Kingdom, the punk culture was far more political; one of the most important band is:


Sex Pistols
This punk band was formed in London in 1975, they were responsible to initialize the punk movement in the UK and inspired a lot of future punk musicians, its original members were Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock, in 1977 Matlock was replaced by Sid Vicious. Usually, their concerts finished in riots, after a problematic tour in the USA in January 1978, Rotten announced the Sex Pistols break-up. Ones of their most famous song is “God Save the Queen” attacking the UK monarchy and the Britons’ social conformity.




Middle 80’s the punk music came to Colombia, mainly by Medellin city where young people began listening to band such as Dead Kennedys (USA), The Ramones, Sex Pistols, those bands inspired them to start playing covers and their own songs, the main topics of their lyrics are, social injustices, against capitalism and Colombian violence. The main Colombian punk bands are:

I.R.A. (Acute Respiratory Infection)
I.R.A. is a Colombian punk rock band from Medellin, it was formed in 1985 by David Viola who already is its guitar and principal voice, The actual line-up is: David Viola – guitar and voice, Monica – Voice and Drums, and Duvan – Bass.  They talk about, and criticize, the Colombian and World situation, life and also feeling of people in the actual situation. As Monica said: ”We write songs because we must do it, that’s the only way to say all what we fell and all what we think about this world”. 



Los Nadie

Nadie is other Colombian punk rock band formed in 1994 in Medellin, its actual line-up is Julian Velasquez (guitar-voice), Alejandro Duque (drums), Carlos Pino (bass), they  have an unique sound, a mix of Rock, HardCore and Punk and different instruments. 


                                                                                                                                   


SILVESTRE DANGOND


According whit the Test, the Singer chosen For AIDI’s People is Silvestre Dangond.



Silvestre Francisco Dangond Corrales was Born in Urumita (La Guajira) on May 12th in 1980. His father was a singer named William Jose Vaquero "el palomo, he sings with Andres "el turco" Gil. They made an album with 10 songs. His Mother is Dellys Corrales Rojas, his Family are singers, for this reason Silvestre is an amazing singer.
Silvestre lived with his mother his first year in his grandparents’ house in a little town, for this reason he is so simple, natural and sincere in his songs, “that is his style” -Dellys raid remembered his childhood-, it was so beautiful and he was a child so amiable “everybody loved him”. He studied in the national garden, there he was so popular for his sympathy and for be a good friend, then he studied in high school Colombo Ingles and finished in the parish El Carmelo.



When Silvestre was young, his parents lived in Bogota city, he sings at parties with “coco” Zuleta his best friend; then they worked with SONY MUSIC, after they work with Roman Lopez and they made the first album “tanto para ti”, it was an amazing album; after they made the album “mas unidos que nunca”.
In the year 2005 he sings his new album "ponte a la moda”, in the year 2006 he recorded “la fama” and actually he is working in his new album “el original”.
